Tesla cuts 200 Autopilot employees

Tesla has laid off 200 autopilot employees. This is an additional dismissal measure that followed after a large-scale layoff was announced, and all new employees from the second week of the internship were fired.

The team at the office, which was fired this time, has been in charge of analyzing customer vehicle data related to the autopilot function and performing data labeling, it is known that it includes both regular and contract employees.

Tesla's layoffs are part of a cutback plan that CEO Elon Musk is pursuing. Musk said at a forum in Qatar hosted by Bloomberg on the 21st that "a recession will be unavoidable someday" and that "over the next three months, we will reduce our workforce by 3.0 to 3.5 percent."



It is an opinion that the possibility of a recall raised as the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) raises the level of safety investigations related to autopilot cannot be ignored. NHTSA has announced that it is entering the “engineering analysis” stage by raising the level of investigation of autopilot-equipped vehicles. The target of the survey was 830,000 Tesla vehicles.

Earlier on the 2nd, Elon Musk said, "I have an extremely bad feeling about the economy." Tesla employs about 100,000 people worldwide. Factory workers, mainly contract workers, account for 39%, with about 60,000 regular workers. Industry analysts predict that Tesla will cut 6,000 jobs.
